The Remains of Target Area
There were two locations, Hon-maru (the main enclosure of a castle) and Ni-no-maru, of target area in the premises of Naegi Castle for practicing archery. The target area in Ni-no-maru (outer citadel) was located one step lower on the south side of the lord's office. The size was about 30 m long and 15 m wide (98 x 49 ft). It was used for practicing swordsmanship, spearmanship, and shooting as well. The remains of the target mound are about 3 m long and 1 m high (approx.9 x 3 ft). The right-hand side of the mound is enclosed by stone wall while the left-hand side and the backside are enclosed by mud wall.
